White Object Thumbnail Sketches

Out of the 3 of the sketches, i chose the one i wanted for very good reasons. i really wanted to do something not too difficult but not too easy, something right on my level.

Using Compisition As A Tool

I think that this painting includes an incredible amount of composition. i think this because the placement of the puppies and the cups really compliment each other due to number and placement. also the size of everything is about the same which makes it very interesting. are these puppies newborns? are the cups and pears extra extra large? why are the puppies drinking out of a cup on a table? how did they get on the table? all of these questions make the painting even more interesting and beautiful.

Homework

There are huge differences between Giorgio Morandi's flowers and Vincent Van Gogh's flower.s  Morandi's strokes include very straight precise lines while Van Gogh's strokes are very fluid and almost wild-like. Also the colors in Morandis are very boring while the colors in Van Gogh's are rather bright.

What I know..

The primary colors are blue red and yellow. The secondary colors are purple, green and orange. You create secondary colors by mixing primary colors. Complimentary colors are the colors opposite of eachother on the color wheel. Two ways you can emphasize something in a painting are using color and placement. If I were trying to create a shadow on an object in a painting I would realize where the light source is and shadow in the opposite direction. IF i were painting an object and I wanted to to create the illusion of a highlight on it i would take a lighter color, realize where the light source is and paint as if this light source is hitting the object. IF i were trying to make an object loolk like its far away I would put it at the top of the page and make it really small. To create a painting i find a picture, make a sketch and start!

A Painting I Remember

A painting i remember seeing is the Mona Lisa in the Louvre in Paris, France. I went there this summer and I couldn't believe how big of a deal such a small, simple painting was. There were about 100 people trying to get in front of this small piece of paper to take pictures. It was really a crazy sight.

My Skills As An Artist

My skills as an artist is strongest in the painting catagory. i love painting landscapes and still objects, abstract stuff just isnt my thang. Im not very into drawing people, but i love to fade colors into different colors if that makes any sense.

Why I am taking painting

I am taking painting because i love to mix colors. Mixing colors to create new gorgeous ones is fun and entertaining. I love to paint landscapes and paint by observation. I dislike drawing immensely so painting is right for me :)
